Home Team(Part 6): Warning Signs — False Gods & AI
BIG IDEA
If Jesus isn’t the authority in your home, something else will be. A “Home Team” is built on Christ alone—because false gospels, self-made truth, and AI-powered counterfeits are competing for our identity, intimacy, and allegiance.
FOUNDATION
Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
POINT 1 — FALSE GODS ARE REAL (AND THEY REPLACE JESUS)
John 14:6
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is not “one option.” He is:
- The way (not one way among many)
- The truth (not a perspective)
- The life (not an accessory you add to an unchanged life)
Truth excludes what is false. The loving thing is to point to the one bridge, the one cure, the one door.
Galatians 1:8–9
If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
WHY THIS MATTERS FOR YOUR HOME
If we stumble here, everything else collapses:
- Identity
- Morality
- Purpose
- Spiritual authority
- Disciple-making in the home
Romans 3:10
None is righteous, no, not one.
Ephesians 2:8–9
For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God, not a result of works…
Romans 5:8
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
KEY WARNING
If Jesus is not an authority in your home, something else will be.
POINT 2 — AI AS “MODERN BABEL”
Genesis 11:6
…this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.
Babel wasn’t mainly about a tower—it was about self-exaltation:
- Independence from God
- Making a name for ourselves
- Becoming “like God”
AI can create the illusion of:
- Unlimited knowledge and solutions
- Self-defined identity
- Escape into controlled worlds
- Reality without consequences
- Counterfeit relationships
POINT 3 — COUNTERFEIT INTIMACY (RELATIONSHIPS WITHOUT EFFORT)
AI offers intimacy without the effort.
But without effort, we lose what makes intimacy human:
- sacrifice
- forgiveness
- conflict-resolution
- patience
- growth
The more time you spend with something that demands nothing of you,
the less tolerant you become of the humans that do.
SPIRITUAL WARNING
The enemy targets the family because family reflects Christ and the church.
POINT 4 — WHY SOUND THE ALARM (3 REASONS)
1) Men retreating into virtual worlds
1 Corinthians 16:13–14
Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.
2) People are asleep and distracted
Romans 13:11–12
…wake from sleep…
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray… the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
3) The watchman must warn
Ezekiel 33
The watchman must sound the trumpet.
2 Timothy 4:2–4
Preach the word… the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching…
Ephesians 5:11
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
BOTTOM LINE
Jesus is enough.
His truth is stronger than every false god.
But it starts today—taking a stand in your life and your home.
John 10:27–28
My sheep hear my voice… and they follow me… no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Joshua 24:15
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
APPLICATION
1) Authority Check:
What is the functional authority in my home right now—Jesus or something else?
2) Substitution Check:
Where am I tempted to accept counterfeit truth, comfort, identity, or escape?
3) Stand Now:
What specific boundary, habit, or conversation needs to happen this week to build on Christ?
PRAYER RESPONSE
Ask the Holy Spirit: What are You saying to me?
Then respond in obedience—starting today.
