Home Team (Part 1)
Week of Prayer & Fasting Guide
THE HOME TEAM: CONSISTENCY IN A WEEK OF PRAYER AND FASTING
Jesus tells a simple story in Matthew 7. Two people build houses. One builds on rock. One builds on sand. Both face storms. Only one stands.
The difference is not the storm.
The difference is the foundation.
As a church, we are in a season of building. God is strengthening our homes, our faith, and our church. This week—our week of prayer and fasting—is a reminder that strong foundations are built through daily consistency, not occasional effort.
WHY CONSISTENCY MATTERS
Strong homes are not built in moments of emotion.
They are built through steady, faithful habits.
The same is true in our relationship with God. One meaningful worship service can encourage us. One sermon can stir our hearts. But lasting faith is formed through what we do every day.
That’s why we value:
Reading God’s Word every day
Praying every day
Worshiping God every day
Sharing our grace stories every day
Not as a checklist, but as a way of staying close to Jesus.
FASTING: MAKING ROOM FOR GOD
Fasting is not about proving something to God.
It’s about creating space for Him.
When we fast, we quiet the noise of daily life so we can hear God more clearly. We say, “God, I want You more than comfort. I want You more than routine. I want You more than distraction.”
This week, as we fast and gather for prayer each morning at 6:30am, we are choosing consistency together. We are building spiritual strength before the storm, not during it.
ABIDING, NOT STRIVING
Jesus says, “Abide in me.” He does not say, “Try harder.”
Consistency is not about striving in our own strength. It’s about staying connected to Christ. When we abide in Him through prayer, fasting, worship, and the Word, we begin to see fruit grow naturally.
We don’t force it.
We remain faithful.
FAITH IS BUILT IN THE ORDINARY
Most of our faith is lived out in simple moments:
How we speak at home
How we forgive
How we respond when life is hard
God is not looking for perfection. He is looking for faithfulness.
Fasting reminds us that obedience often starts small—one prayer, one Scripture, one act of worship, one step of trust.
ONE STEP THIS WEEK
Consistency does not mean doing everything at once.
It means showing up again today.
As we continue this week of prayer and fasting, choose one daily rhythm:
Open God’s Word
Talk to Him in prayer
Worship, even briefly
Share what God is doing in your life
Small, steady faithfulness builds a strong foundation.
Build your life on the Rock—one day at a time.
